“Mask Up” Will Not Protect America nor Her Citizenry
The American people have been led like the proverbial lamb to slaughter by her institutions and leaders.
Author’s Note: I am not an “anti-masker”, nor am I against personal protection. I am against blindly following a set of recommendations that neither now nor at the beginning of the pandemic should have ever been considered an appropriate level of PPE for the respective COVID-19 pathogen. I also am not “anti-science”, I have published multiple papers in the scientific journals in the fields of biology and pathology. I also have understanding of statistics that provides a knowledge of when statistics are being used to discover truth and when they are being used to manipulate individuals or groups (I have used it for both)…
“Phones down in the car, masks up in public”, reads an electronic ODOT sign overhanging Interstate 71 in Ohio. The sign eludes to Governor Mike DeWine’s public health order to mandate masks while in public. An order, that as part of a set of public health orders, that was decried as an effective personal protective measure which would maintain or decrease the daily rate of coronavirus infections in Ohio. A set of orders and initiatives, not unique in structure or purpose to Ohio or Governor Dewine, that has done little to control the rising increase in daily infection rates over the prior 90 days (effected areas include: Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago, Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Michigan, Governor Tony Evers’ Wisconsin, etc). Yet, over the previous weeks, many in political positions have become testy when confronted about the rise in cases and their policies. They, the politicians, bestow blame on the citizenry, using terms like “pandemic-fatigue”, but see no shortcomings and continue to bestow honor upon the idols of their public health policies like biblical bronze cows. Only they, the politicians and public health officials, can do no wrong and protect the sheep from slaughter. It is time for the American people to stand up to these false prophets and to besiege their idols: public masking is an ineffective countermeasure to slowing or preventing the spread of COVID-19.
